Who is in the Wellnest?
Counselor on Special Assignment:
Ms. (Zu)lema
Ms. Zu is a resource/option for students while they are in the Wellnest. She is able to check-in with students for 15 minutes if they would like social-emotional support.

Wellnest Purpose Statement
The Wellnest is a safe, calming space dedicated to students that need a moment to destress,
refocus and self-regulate their mental well-being before returning to class.
What can students do in the Wellnest?
Option 1
Relax and destress by sitting on one our comfy couches or cushions\rugs.
Option 2
Practice a new coping skill through our various activities that we have available.
Option 3
Talk to Ms. Zu about how you are feeling or anything else you might want to share.

What is a Wellness Center?
A place for a short break
A place to destress and relax in a calming environment
A place to learn a new healthy coping skill
A place that allows students to be able to reset and return to their class/day
What a Wellness Center is not...
A place for
Class Avoidance
Students who are not attending classes
A place for
Students to come in and socialize with friends
Students to make others feel uncomfortable or excluded
A place for
Students to do homework or assignments in an alternative setting
To eat or drink beverages
Any disruptive behaviors
Policies and Procedures
The center is student driven
Students should be using good judgment when asking to visit, and should try to avoid missing important instruction, presentations or assessments
Students are responsible for anything missed in class while they are in the center
The center makes sure students are not missing class time
Students cannot come from the same period more than once a week
Students will have exactly 15 minutes at the center to relax and de-stress (tier 1)
Students will not be allowed to visit the center during the first and last 15 minutes of class.
The center follows MTMDSS guidelines
Student who requests to visit more than twice a week will be referred to a counselor (tier 2).
If a student requests to visit more than once a day will be referred to a counselor (tier 2).
If students want to see a counselor for a longer period of time, they should not come to the center but to their building.
